Hello, I am Yuliya - a photographer based in Paris.
Even though I have always been a great appreciator of photography as a medium of expression, the first time I actually picked up a camera was in February 2021. For me, the silver lining of the Covid crisis was that it created for me a context, which allowed me to actually take the time and discover something new, which then became a passion. Because of the lockdown, the world was on pause and I was limited to the space of my own apartment, so as my first subject I chose food. I find that it is quite an interesting and challenging project to try and convey emotion and vivacity through something which someone would call “still life”. With my work I am aiming to understand and learn how light behaves and the transformatory power it has.
Even though it is a cliché, I am also interested in people. Especially real people with real stories, which I try to represent as authentically as possible.
